American Lunar Mission ends in disappointment

US lunar lander, Peregrine. It's been leaking fuel and now it's headed for Earth

It is expected to burn up in the atmosphere

Astrobotic, the company behind Peregrine, has been sharing updates since its launch on January 8 with a new Vulcan rocket.

Unfortunately, after separating from the rocket, there was an onboard explosion

Explosion affected the Mission.

Peregrine is now on  its way to Earth.

Initial hopes for a "hard landing" on the Moon have dimmed

Peregrine has been in space for over five days

NASA invested over $100 million in Astrobotic for this lunar mission
